About This Course

Bachelor of Business Studies is a four years course under the Faculty of Management of Tribhuvan University. The main concern of this course is to develop students into competent managers for any sector of organized activity. The main objective of BBS is to develop students into dynamic managers having the ablity to handle responsibility in every sector. This program helps to prepare students to become competent, skilled, confident, and socially responsive professionals.  Students can specialize in management, accounting, marketing, and information systems through this course. 

 

In Nepal, more than 680 colleges offer BBS program under TU. Similarly, along with Tribhuvan University, Other universities like Mid Western University and Far Western University also offer this course.

Why to Study BBS?

This program is based on the principle that graduates will spend a major portion of their life in a constantly changing environment. Therefore, the student should have an opportunity to obtain a broad knowledge of the concepts and reality-based skills underlying the operation and management of organizations. Upon graduation, students should be equipped to function as a manager in business, industry, and government. The graduate should also have a variety of career opportunities in different sectors of business including entrepreneurship and create much-needed jobs for others. 

 

Objectives:

The main objectives of a BBS degree are as follows:

  • Equip the students with the required conceptual knowledge of business and administration to develop a general management perspective in them.
  • Develop required attitudes, abilities, and practical skills in students, which constitute a foundation for their growth into competent and responsible business managers.
  • Encourage entrepreneurial capabilities in students to make them effective change agents in the Nepalese society.
  • Develop a necessary foundation for higher studies in management and thereafter take up careers in teaching, research, and consultancy.

Criteria

Admission Criteria and Eligibility

To get into a Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) program, you generally need to have passed your 10+2 (or equivalent) with a minimum grade, often around 45% or 1.8 CGPA, in any stream, though some colleges prefer Science/Management with Math/Economics, and English as a core subject, plus passing the college's specific entrance test or interview for admission. 

General Eligibility Criteria

  • Education: Successfully completed 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognized board (like NEB, TU, or other recognized institutions).
  • Academic Performance:
    • Minimum Second Division (45% and above) or 1.8 CGPA.
    • Some require a minimum of D+ in each subject.
  • Subject Requirements:
    • English as a full subject is often mandatory.
    • Students from Science/Humanities streams usually need to have studied Mathematics or Economics as a full subject. 

Admission Process & College Requirements

  • Application: Submit an application form with necessary documents (transcripts, certificates, photos).
  • Entrance Exam/Interview: Many colleges require passing their own entrance test or interview, even if TU doesn't have a central one.
  • Merit Basis: Admission is often based on your +2 academic performance and college-specific criteria. 

 

Scholarship:

Enrolled in the top government college is itself a scholarship due to the low fee structure. The different scholarship scheme is offered by colleges affiliated to Tribhuvan University as per their choice.
