About This Course
Bachelor of Computer Engineering is a four-year, eight-semester program of Tribhuvan University.Only 14 Engineering Colleges of Nepal offer Bachelor of Computer Engineering (BE Computer) course with affiliation from Tribhuvan University. In this program, 52 core and elective courses are offered in the duration of 48 months. At Tribhuvan University only 710 seats are available for the Bachelor of Computer Engineering program.BE Computer is that program which integrates electrical and electronics engineering along with computer science to develop computer systems. The students of this course will be provided with the knowledge about electronics, electrical, software design and the hardware integration instead of just software related knowledge. Software development, information system design, digital system, computer networking, automatic system design etc. will be taught to the students. BE Computer aims to make students well acquainted with the latest trends in Information Technology through the special lectures from well renowned professors and experts.

Why to Study BE in Computer Engineering?
The Bachelor of Computer Engineering program is for those who want to get better information about both the Hardware and software mechanisms of computers as well as the latest technology of the whole world. Those who graduate with a Bachelor of Computer Engineering are called Computer Engineers. The design and develop the application of computer systems. - BE Computer graduates understand the need and have the ability to engage in lifelong learning and professional development. They do this by recognizing the ethical and professional responsibilities.
- Ability to understand, identify, formulate and solve problems by using modern tools, techniques and skills required for engineering practices.
Criteria
Admission Criteria and Eligibility
The candidate applying for BE Computer Engineering program:
- In case of Letter Grading System, students should have secured minimum "C" Grade in all subjects in Grade 11 and 12.
OR
- Should have successfully completed a twelve year of schooling in the science stream or equivalent from any university, board or institution recognized by TU. Should have secured a minimum of second division in their +2 or equivalent
- Should have successfully passed the entrance examination conducted by TU securing at least 35% marks.
- Compiled with all the application procedures.
Entrance
Students willing to join this program must pass an entrance exam conducted by Institute of Engineering (IOE). It conducts tests in different subjects such as Math, Physics, Chemistry and English. Students desiring to join this program which is affiliated to TU must pass these tests. Students are only selected according to the merit list in these entrance exams.
- In the entrance exam, 40 marks are from Physics and Mathematics each, Chemistry, English and Engineering Aptitude consists of 20, 22 and 18 marks respectively.
- The total question: 100, total mark: 140 and time allocated: 2 hours in full computerized system. Students need to select the correct option out of 4 options.
- Each wrong answer leads to deduction of 10% marks in each question.
- The result is published as per the merit list and the merit list is prepared according to the marks obtained in entrance exam only.
Admission
The merit list of the applicants from the entrance exam will be published and they can get enrolled as per the merit list published by IOE, at Tribhuvan University and its constituent campuses and affiliated private colleges.
Entrance Preparation
In order to get enrolled in top engineering colleges, one should have a good rank in entrance exams conducted by IOE. It is not that easy to get good marks in BE entrance without doing an exhaustive preparation class. So, in order to secure your name in top rank in the merit list and secure your place in the top colleges, exam preparation classes are very helpful and supplementary for your study. The 2- 3 months course costs for preparation class is about NRs. 15 to 18 thousand. It is the hard work of students that matters more than anything else. There are lots of institutes that run the BE Computer Entrance preparation classes. Fee Structure
This degree is available in (TU) Tribhuvan University constituent colleges as well as private institutions. The fee structure varies from each and every institution. Scholarship
Every year IOE, TU provides admission to 48 students and out of those students it provides scholarships to six female students. Private colleges offer scholarships according to their own. Most of the colleges provide scholarships to the students who have topped the entrance test and some of them offer need based scholarships as well.
