About This Course
Masters of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology also called M.Sc.CSIT is a two-year four-semester program. It is designed by closely following the courses practiced in accredited international universities, subject to the condition that the intake students are mostly from three years B. Sc. Computer Science program at Tribhuvan University. In addition to the standard core and elective computer science courses, It offers service courses to meet the need of high technology application. Students enrolled in the graduate program are required to take courses in design and implementation of computer software systems, foundation in the theoretical model of computer science and functional background of computer hardware. All graduation students are required to complete 40 credit hours and they may complete a maximum of 63 credit hours.

Why M.Sc.CSIT?
This Course is designed after research to develop skilled manpower. This course is a combination of practical and theoretical bases after B.Sc.CSIT. A practical based and a research based course can create a great combination to develop in the field of research and in a technical field because this course is not totally practical but also a research based which enables students to participate actively in problem solving techniques. Due to its strong course content this course is mostly popular among the students. Colleges offering M.Sc.CSIT do not concern themselves with generating capable and innovative IT skilled manpower but also focus on those who want to develop themselves as an entrepreneur. Eligibility
- A degree in B.Sc. in Computer Science; BE-computer, electronics, BTech or curriculum equivalent to bachelor level program in computer science at Tribhuvan University, is required for admission.
- Students having master’s degree in Science (Physics, Statistics and Mathematics) and students of four year degree in engineering in computer related field can also apply for admission provided they have completed prerequisite courses needed to enroll in the first year course of M.Sc.CSIT program. The selection for admission is based on the entrance examination.
The main objective of M.Sc. CSIT is to provide students with in- depth knowledge and skill in research and development areas in computer science and information technology including design, theory, programming and application of computers. However, the core objectives of the M.Sc. CSIT programs are:
- To offer intensive knowledge in the theory, design, programming, and application of computers.
- Providing an in-depth understanding of and experience with computer systems.
- Developing creative and analytical skills that provide a basis for technological problem-solving.
- Equipping students with the technical knowledge required for IT professionals to handle multitasking situations and to assess and develop computer-based solutions.
- Imparting knowledge of computer and programming logic environments in IT.
- Knowledge of advanced IT applications in different business sectors.
- To equip students with the technical knowledge required for an IT professional to handle multitasking and multiprogramming situations and to assess and develop computer-based solutions.
- To provide necessary knowledge in the field of functional knowledge of hardware systems and the necessary knowledge of computer software systems.
